It’s a great news for the people who are very Twitter user friendly. Twitter has officially announced to increase the number of characters in tweets. The present limit of Twitter is 140 characters which has been increased to 280. Before making this feature officially applicable, Twitter has tested it on the few accounts. With an aim to attract more users, Twitter has brought about this change.

Response on idea of limit extension
Even the time when this decision to expand the limits has been taken, Twitter chief executive Jack Dorsey had tweeted:
“This is a small change, but a big move for us. 140 was an arbitrary choice based on the 160 character SMS limit. Proud of how thoughtful the team has been in solving a real problem people have when trying to tweet. And at the same time maintaining our brevity, speed, and essence!”

Many of the people welcomed this test while many made fun of this extended limit.

Reason behind extending this limit
“We are making this change after listening and observing a problem our global community was having (it wasn’t easy enough to Tweet!), studying data to understand how we could improve, trying it out, and listening to your feedback,” said Twitter product manager Aliza Rosen wrote in a blog post.

This new 280 characters facility is not available to tweets written in Japanese, Chinese and Korean which can convey more information in a single character. Twitter has begun the tweets of 140 characters since the formation of company in 2006.
