Two Doctors Suspended for Medical Negligence in Ritesh Jaiswal Case

Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital (CNMCH) has suspended two of its doctors on the grounds of negligence in medical treatment, which resulted in death of a final year medical student Ritesh Jaiswal. An investigating committee chaired by Principal Manjushree Ray and four other member gave this decision, after a detailed probe of the whole case.

Ritesh Jaiswal was the final year student of CNMCH and suffered serious head injuries in a road accident on 14th September. His batch-mates rushed him to hospital, where after an un-satisfactory treatment Jaiswal died in next 8 hours of admission. The death has led a protest among the fellow students, who demanded for an investigation.

The reports from the committee so formed said doctors did not follow the standard medical guidelines in treating the patient, who had clot in the brain and needed an immediate CT scan which was not done.
