UNION BUDGET 2018: Here is what you should know

Exactly a couple of days left before the Union government announces the Budget 2018. There are a lot of speculations which are rife across the country, as far as the Budget components are concerned. Considering that it is the last Budget for this term of BJP, the Budget is expected to be lenient and rewarding for the public.

The markets are sullen and depressed, but it is expected that the budget day i.e. February 1, 2018, will bring some cheer to the markets as well. The budget will conventionally lay huge impetus to the agriculture sector, enriching farmer’s livelihood and increasing agriculture GDP by lightening the burden on farmers.

Not only this, the Union Budget will also focus on tightening the protection laws of the women. The pre-budget therefore was clad in a beautiful pink cover, symbolizing that the Budget’s highlight will be women and their protection.

Continuing the safeguard of interests of women, the government said that it will not leave any stone unturned to get the Triple Talaq Bill passed. As far as the Bill is concerned, the government said that it will talk to various parties to arrive at a common ground for this issue.

The all-party meeting was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and Ananth Kumar, besides leaders of the opposition and other parties.

Party leaders met for dinner meetings hosted by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan. This ensured smooth functioning of the sessions. It was also informed that PM Modi had asked the leaders of the parties to make the session successful. To ensure that all budget meetings are constructive and fruitful, the government is taking various steps.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kumar said, “We will leave no stone unturned and persuade and request all political parties so that the bill is passed in the Rajya Sabha, as it has been in the Lok Sabha.”
