UPSC Results: Rajasthan’s Kanishk Kataria tops biggest civil service examination

The UPSC announced that Kanishk Kataria from Rajasthan has topped the civil services final examination. While Kataria has topped the exams, Akshat Jain from Rajasthan and Junaid Ahmad from Uttar Pradesh have ranked second and third respectively.

While Kanishk is still can’t stop pinching himself over his grand success, Kanishk Kataria thanked his family and girlfriend for him topping the civil services final examination.

Kanishk Kataria, an IIT Bombay student, told news agency ANI, “It’s a very surprising moment. I never expected to get the 1st rank. I thank my parents, sister & my girlfriend for help & moral support. People will expect me to be a good administrator & that’s exactly my intention.”

Kataria belongs to SC category and qualified the examination with mathematics as his optional subject. He is a BTech (Computer Science and Engineering).

Srushti Jayant Deshmukh from Madhya Pradesh is the topper among women and ranked fifth.

Deshmukh, a BE (Chemical Engineering) from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal, is the topper among the women candidates securing an overall fifth rank, the statement said.

The final ranks have been announced based on the results of the written part of civil services examination, 2018 held by the UPSC in September-October, 2018 and the interviews for Personality Test held in February-March, 2019.

A total number of 759 candidates have been recommended for appointment in Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Services and Central Services.
