Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the two-day Uttar Pradesh Investors Summit on Wednesday. UP Investors Summit is the first such event by the Yogi Adityanath government, around 5000 people, including industry leaders from India and abroad, Chief ministers, union ministers, policymakers, and academics. The summit is aimed to showcasing investment opportunities and potential across various sectors in Uttar Pradesh.
In the event, PM Modi said that “ I am making an important announcement. In this year’s budget, we had announced that we will establish two defense industrial production corridors. One of them will be in Uttar Pradesh.” The government will establish a defense industrial production corridor in UP. The corridor, which will link Agra, Aligarh, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, and Chitrakoot, will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 20,000 crore. The construction of this corridor will generate 250,000 jobs. Uttar Pradesh has values and virtues, but it also needs value addition, “the PM Modi says lauding the new policy “ One District One Product” of the Yogi government and said that it could prove to be the game changer for the state.

PM Modi also praised the Yogi Adityanath government for reducing red tapism and also rolling out the red carpet for investors. “There is no dearth of resources and opportunities in Uttar Pradesh where you find Lucknowi chikankari”, Banarasi zardozi, brassware of Moradabad and glassware industries of Firozabad.”.
CM Yogi Adityanath welcomed the guests in the Investors Summit, saying “I have complete faith that Uttar Pradesh will move on a high growth path with your support, trust, and blessings.”

A number of promises are being made by top industrialists for the development of Uttar Pradesh, which has so far been recognized as one of the most underdeveloped states of the country. Considering the size and population of the state, industrialists Anand Mahindra was right to point out that Uttar Pradesh should compete with countries, not just states of India.

Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, speaking during the event said Reliance Jio would be present in every single village of the state by the 2018-end. He also promised to invest over Rs 10,000 crore in the state through Jio in the next 3 years, saying contribution to UP’s development is his “patriotic duty”. Other top industrialists like Gautam Adani, Subhash Chandra, N.Chandrasekaran, Kumar Mangalam Birla and Shobana Kamineni will also speak during different sessions.
The two-day event is being attended by more than 5,000 delegates from around the world and over 100 speakers will be addressing gatherings. On the first day of the Summit, as many as 25 MoUs worth Rs55,000 crores were signed with various companies.
