Vasundhara Raje: First Indian female politician to cross 6 Million Followers on Facebook!

Over the past decade, Facebook has become popular among every individual having internet connection. Hence, it is considered the fastest and the most effective channel for reaching out to people. From celebrities to politicians to business tycoons, everyone is trying to make their presence felt through social media; especially through Facebook.

Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has recently topped the ranking chart by becoming the 1st female politician of India to cross the 6 million mark on Facebook. A recent analysis on the number of Facebook followers revealed that Vasundhara Raje’s official Facebook handle saw the fastest growth rate by reaching upto 6 million within a span of 3 years, starting from April 2013.

According to Facebook’s latest figures, 1.5 billion people have registered an account on the platform, of which 1 billion people are active on the social network every day. In 2015, the number of users on Facebook has become even greater than the population of China, the most populous country on earth.

Many politicians discover social media channels during election campaigns and later become dormant. Those who are active throughout, are more likely to reach a larger audience and gain appreciation.

There are nearly 90 heads of state and 82 prime ministers who have their official pages on Facebook. Topping the chart is US President Barack Obama with over 50 million page likes followed by India Prime Minister Narendra Modi with over 36 million page likes. Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje is not far behind by ranking 15th in the World Politician Ranking with over 6 million page likes.

With US Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton having over 7 million page likes, Vasundhara Raje comes second among the most followed female politicians and third among the most followed female personnel on Facebook. The latter list is topped by Queen Rania of Jordon, who is also a social worker, with over 9 million Facebook followers.

Nationally speaking, the chart is topped by PM Narendra Modi followed by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal with almost 7 million followers. Ranking third among the Indian political leaders, Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje is followed by BJP President Amit Shah, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Textiles Minister Smriti Zubin Irani, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh yadav and BJP politician Varun Gandhi.

What makes Raje stand out of the list is the fact that she is the only Indian female politician to have ever reached upto the top 5 ranking which clearly shows her impact on the people.Some of her recent campaigns which garnered a lot of appreciation are- Bhamashah Yojana, Mukhyamantri Jal sawalamban Abhiyan, Resurgent Rajasthan and GRAM 2016.
