Vasundhara Raje headed towards Farmers Welfare: Meets foreign envoys for GRAM, 2016

India is an agricultural country and it is must that the farmers of the country grow for the overall growth and development of the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is introducing various schemes for the welfare of farmers but that’s not all. The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Smt. Vasundhara Raje is also playing a major role in contributing towards evolving the agriculture sector of the country in all and the state in particular. She has set numerous goals to be fulfilled and aims to be achieved to ensure the progress of Farmers of Rajasthan.

GRAM or Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet is one such development program organized by Vasundhara Raje and state government so that the agriculture sector could also develop together with the other sectors by collaborating with technology and basic infrastructure. Vasundhara Raje has introduced several schemes and government plans like Rajshree Yojna, BHAMASHAH, MJSA and GRAM for an overall development of the state to benefit everyone. With the progressive thinking and constructive approach, the hard-working Chief Minister, and her officials are all set for the grand event of GRAM, 2016 scheduled in November. GRAM is an event focused towards the development and welfare of the farmers of Rajasthan. It is planned to be attended by Netherlands, Israel, Australia and Canada as the partners for the event. These countries use such technologies and farming methods that make them a world leader in the production of agricultural products. Thus, Rajasthan Government with the cooperation and assistance of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry or FICCI desires to teach the state farmers about new and innovative techniques that can be used to increase their production. Also, it aims to educate them about the different drip irrigation methods to overcome drought like situations in their respective regions.

To stand by her development model and make it a success for providing fruitful results to farmers, CM Vasundhara Raje had one-on-one meetings on Tuesday with envoys of 3 countries at Bikaner House in New Delhi. The three ambassadors who attended the meetings were the Ambassador of Netherlands, Mr. Alphonsus Stoelinga; High Commissioner of Australia, Ms. Harinder Sidhu and Ambassador of Israel, Mr. Daniel Carmon.

During the meeting, CM Raje discussed her vision behind organizing GRAM with the foreign envoys. She described that Rajasthan is known as a desert state yet, she aspires to transform it into an agricultural state. All this would be possible with the dedicated efforts of the state Government by exposing the world of technology and innovations to the farming sectors of the state. GRAM is organized with the objective of creating awareness among the farmers about the technological advancements in the world that can help them in getting a better yield and thus enhance their income. She wants to introduce the best global farming practices in the state to convert Rajasthan into an Agri-business hub. Also, GRAM would showcase the investment opportunities in Rajasthan to the entire world.

Vasundhara Raje wants to connect to the farmers and care for them by providing them this learning opportunity to grow in their production. She is actively working to double each farmer’s income by 2022 and plans to make all the necessary interventions regarding policy, infrastructure, and technology to achieve a sustainable enhancement in the agriculture sector.

The participating countries of GRAM, 2016 like Israel, Netherlands, and Australia have set some commendable benchmarks in the field of Agriculture in the world.

  • Israel’s Agricultural sector is a highly developed industry and is a major exporter of fresh produce. In spite of having natural resources and land which are not conducive to agriculture, the country is a world leader in agriculture technology.
  • Netherland uses 50% land for crop production out of a total of 2 million hectares of agricultural land available. Being the world’s largest exporter of agricultural products, this sector is one of the major drivers of the Dutch Economy.
  • Australia is the world’s driest inhabited continent, yet the farming production systems here are technologically advanced. Australia’s plant, animal and agricultural scientists rank among the best in the world.

Thus, it is very clear that Vasundhara Raje has worked hard on the project and has done her best to invite such countries who are world leaders in agriculture, horticulture, dairy, and other allied sectors so that the farmers of Rajasthan could be benefitted with their experience and learning.

GRAM will be held from 9th to 11th November 2016, at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Center (JECC) at Sitapura in Jaipur, to be attended by more than 50,000 farmers from all over the state and neighbors.
