Virat Kohli Won The Indian Of The Year 2017 Award

Captain Virat Kohli won the CNN-News18 Indian of the year for 2017. He also won the award for Popular Choice. The 11th edition of the CNN-News18 Indian of the Year awards took place in Delhi and was attended by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, former cricketer Kapil Dev, cricket coach Ravi Shastri, and Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu.

The Indian captain had a great year, notching up centuries across all formats and now he is the second highest centurion in ODIs after Sachin Tendulkar. He said “I’ve never tried to be anyone else, Everyone has to go through a process to get to where they want to be in life. But it’s very important never to lose your identity because then you won’t be able to inspire anyone else.”

“We have to believe that everyone has a plan, all we can do is work hard,” he added.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented the award to the Indian captain, Jaitley also revealed something special about Kohli that was not in the public. When asked what does he think of Kohli, Jaitley said,” He is rewriting the entire script of cricket.He can play with the technical sound and push an inning speedily. I have always asked myself a question, where will Virat Kohli stop No one has found an answer to that question.”
