Claiming to be the best domestic airline in India, Vistara announced the return of the ‘great monsoon sale offer’ on Wednesday this week. The company offers a tempting discount on air travel. Travelers looking for cheap flights between July 21 and September 20 can avail benefits on 6th and 7th July. The great ‘air sale’ is open for just 48 hours on these dates.
As per terms and conditions, there are limited seats available in the full-service air carrier. Vistara will offer seats on ‘first come, first served basis’ to the customers. As a part of the monsoon sale, all economy class passengers can book tickets at Rs 799 (all-inclusive fare). The starting price for the premium economy class is just Rs 2,099. The offer is applicable for flights operating on the Srinagar-Jammu routes, as well.
In the last couple of years, private players were locked in a pitched battle of airfare. The companies offered great discounts on air tickets to woo more customers for their client base. Rapidly escalating number of passengers and cutthroat competition existing in the market resulted in discounted airfare. According to the data retrieved from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the number of domestic air passengers increased by 15.15% (total 91.34 lakh passengers flew to various parts of the country till April). Therefore, the airlines have started investing their time and efforts in luring domestic air travelers through discount deals.
Airfare for the economy air travel has turned cheaper after the Center’s GST (Goods and Services Tax Regime) roll out on July 1. The tax slab for the economy class trimmed down to 5% as opposed to the earlier 6% rate. Contrary to this, the business class tickets have turned expensive. The tax on business air travel rose from 9% to 12% after the GST implementation.
