On the World Sparrow Day, there is concern about this reducing number of house sparrow. This day was celebrated for the first time in 2010 globally.

There are discussions between experts as where birds have flown away or vanish. For this purpose, proper monitoring is required across the nation. Many ecologists and ornithologists suggested finding out the reasons behind the decline in number of house sparrows.

Reasons that contribute to the declining House Sparrows
Increasing urbanisation leads to loss of agricultural fields hence fewer habitats for birds. Another reason is lack of nesting and roosting sites. Even the babies of sparrows are very tiny. These baby sparrows feed on insects, which is itself decreasing.

Why to celebrate World Sparrow Day?
This day is celebrated not only to commemorate the event but also use it as a platform to spread the awareness about conserving the sparrows.

There is a man in Bengaluru Edwin Joseph. Known as Sparrow Man, Joseph has turned his home into a sanctuary for these little creatures.
