The megastar of Bollywood Amitabh Bachchan has recently shared in an interview that he has no legacy to leave behind. Although he himself a superstar, he loves to be called as the son of late poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Dr Harivansh Rai Bachchan was a celebrated poet of Hindi language and his poems have left a great impact on the readers. Amitabh Bachchan is really fond of his father and he recites his father’s poem at many occasions.
Amitabh Bachchan on legacy and his relations with father
“I have no legacy. My father’s legacy is what I am interested in, and I shall try always to further it”, says Amitabh Bachchan in a recent interview to IANS. He also stated, “It is coming on to 50 years in public life… That is as far as I am personally concerned… But I have been in public life from the day I was born. I was always the son of Dr Harivansh Rai Bachchan, eminent poet, litterateur, having public presence far greater than mine.”
Talking about influence of his relation with his father, he shared that the memories with his father and time spent with him are personal. He proudly stated that whatever he learnt from him would certainly be passed on to his son Abhishek.
When Big B was questioned how his father’s legacy to future generations, he said, These are family oriented. Each family has their own conduct and behaviour, and they are executed in a manner where the next generation continues the legacy of the past. One prays and hopes that this temperament continues for posterity too.”
