Ananya Nanda, a 14 year old girl from Odisha, has grabbed title of Indian Idol Junior 2 after outshining her fellow contenders Nahid Afreen and Nityashree Venkataramanan, in the finale of the singing reality show aired on 6th September 2015 on Sony Entertainment. The winner has been awarded with prize money of Rs.10 lakh. The show was judged by panel of judges composed of Salim Merchant, Vishal Dadlani and Sonakshi Sinha.
Excited Ananya Nanda on receiving the prize money from Judge Sonakshi Sinha said, “This is one of the best moments of my life. I am completely speechless!” Nahid Afreen and Nityashree being fellow contenders settled with 1st and 2nd runner-up trophies.
Second season of reality show Indian Idol Junior, started from May this year with 13 contenders selected from various parts of India. As the show advanced one contender was eliminated every Sunday, based on the decisions of judges penal and public voting. Major highlight of the show was a special visit of actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha father of Co-judge Sonakshi Sinha. The 28 years old actress has rapt the viewers, dancing on popular number numbers of her movies.
Kapil Sharma who is on a promotional drive of his first Movie Kis Kisko Payar Karu, showed up on the telecasts last night, although he stuck to his patented comic best to make viewers giggle on his jokes.
It has been second season, when a girl contender has given the Indian Idol title, in first season Anjana Padmanabhan from Bangalore was given the trophy along with cash prize of Rs.25 lakh, a car and two fixed deposit of Rs.5 lakh and Rs.2 lakh respectively. The prize money of second season is remarkably less than that of first season.
