E-commerce major Flipkart announced its new venture into the insurance space. The good news is precedent to the e-commerce giant receiving a corporate agent license.
Want more details? Dive in. Flipkart has partnered with Bajaj Allianz General Insurance with the motive to provide its customers with mobile phone protection. The service will be provided on all leading mobile phone brands, Flipkart is selling on its platform.
When the customer will be opting for this option, they will have the option to pay the charges in cash or it could also be a free pick up facility where Flipkart associates will be providing delivery services to the buyer.
When does this start?
Flipkart has decided to coincide its insurance services with its big billion days which starts on October 10. With this, they will able to boost sales for mobiles phones.
Ravi Garikipati, Flipkart senior vice president and head of Fintech said: “In line with our customer-first policy and as the market leader in this segment, insurance felt like the logical next step in providing consumers with excellent after-sales care for their phones. The plan, from purchase to claim, will be completely integrated into our online platform.”
Tapan Singhel, MD and CEO of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Co, said the two companies are starting with the complete mobile protection plan (CMP), adding value for millions of customers.
The highlight of this idea is that buyers will be able to purchase the mobile insurance at the same time when they will be placing the order for a new mobile phone on Flipkart. It starts at a minimum bid of Rs 99. Once the buyer pays the amount, the insurance will be activated.
The scheme will be operational for one year and will encompass charges like screen, and liquid damage along with theft of the protected mobile phones.
