Two of India’s most talented cricketers- all-rounder Hardik Pandya and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik have been confirmed as a part of the ICC World XI event. It’s going to be charity T20 match and will be played on May 31 at Lord’s against West Indies. The raised funds will be utilized for the stadia in the Caribbean that were damaged in the hurricanes last year.
The squad will be led by England’s limited overs Captain Eoin Morgan. Other players included in the team are Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik from Pakistan, Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal from Bangladesh, Thisara Perera from Sri Lanka and Rashid Khan from Afghanistan.
Talking about the Windies, the team will be led by Carlos Brathwaite and includes players like Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Samuel Badree, Andre Russell, etc.
Giles Clarke, a businessman and cricket administrator is supporting the event. He said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for Indian fans to watch these flamboyant players.” He also added that the two Indian players Kartik and Pandya will bring class and star value to the game.
The proceeds from the ICC World XI charity match will be donated to rebuild and renovate five major venues and other community cricket facilities in the Caribbean that saw destruction because of the hurricanes Irma and Maria, last year.
These venues include Ronald Webster Park (Anguilla), Sir Viv Richards Stadium (Antigua), Windsor Park Stadium (Dominica), A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground (British Virgin Islands) and Carib Lumber Ball Park (St. Maarten).
