Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavat is alluring people with its powerful performance and visual artistry. No doubt many have objections about the movie and jauhar. The movie showcases the story of queen of Chittor Padmavati, her beauty and her valour. It is a period drama from 13th century. The queen commits self immolation (jauhar) in order to save her dignity.
In this movie, the self-immolation of the queen with a sea of women is being showcased. The scene has been slammed for glorifying and romanticising Jauhar or Sati. The scene is picturized on Deepika Padukone.
Talking about that scene, Deepika said that no sane person would endorse such kind of act in present times. She further added that everyone has an opinion but it’s not right to pull a scene out of context. It’s so important to view things in its entirety and totality.
She also asked the people to watch the disclaimer in the film. She is also happy to be part of the film as it has demonstrated the courage, power, strength, dignity and intelligence of woman.
