National Safe Motherhood Day: Motherhood should never be a fight

Motherhood should never be a fight. It should only be a beautiful feeling. To ensure it is so for mothers across the world, UNICEF started with observing National Safe Motherhood Day.

April 11th is observed as National Safe Motherhood Day. It focuses on ensuring that women must have the availability and adequate access to care during pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal services.

To advocate safe motherhood in India, the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood, India (WRA India) was formed. It was WRA which curated the concept of Safe Motherhood Day and commenced it in 2016.

Here are some Bollywood mothers who give us enough inspiration every day and make us believe that Motherhood is a beautiful feeling.

The endearing Aaradhya Bachchan recently cloned her mother’s smile. Known as the world’s most beautiful lady, Aishwarya Rai happens to be the doting mother to the little one.

Another one is Kareena Kapoor who proved to be a victor during her pregnancy. She broke all widely spread notions of pregnancy and world all throughout her pregnancy. On the final day, she gave birth to the Bollywood cutie, Taimur.

Yet another is Shilpa Shetty Kundra who initially suffered a miscarriage but later gave birth to Viaan, a baby boy. She was taken aback when she suffered the miscarriage thinking that despite following a high level of fitness regime including yoga and exercises, she was made to suffer it. Since then, there has been no looking back for the actor. And so, for all other mothers. These are just Bollywood mothers who came to notice due to their profession. But all other mothers across the world have proved that being a mother is a woman’s superpower.

More power to all mothers!

White Ribbon Alliance India is aimed to enforce women and necessary facilities to ensure sufficient care during pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal services.

The Government of India declared April 11th as National Safe Motherhood Day, as it marks the anniversary of Kasturba Gandhi’s birth.
