PM Narendra Modi had special interaction with the 17 member-delegation panel of Kashmiri Pandits and assured them of the fact that they will be build a new Kashmir that is prosperous for everyone.
This delegation had Kashmiri Pandits from all over U.S.A and had a face to face chat with the Indian PM when he arrived in Houston for his week long tour of the U.S.
“Kashmir mein naee hava bah rahee hai [New winds are blowing in Kashmir]. We will all build a new Kashmir together that will be for everyone,” he told the delegation during their meeting.
This assurance was given to the Kashmiri Pandits from Mr. Modi on the back of Indian government’s decision to remove the special status from Jammu & Kashmir and convert it into two separate Union territories.
Mr. Modi meanwhile also thanked the community for their commendable patience for over 30 years. “I had a special interaction with Kashmiri Pandits in Houston,” PM Modi tweeted after the meeting.
Before this meeting, MEA Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted that the Kashmiri Pandits have supported Indian government’s steps that are beneficial for the progress of India in the long term.
“In Houston, a delegation of the Kashmiri Pandit community met the Prime Minister. They unequivocally supported the steps being taken for the progress of India and empowerment of every Indian,” he tweeted.
The delegation praised and thanked the Prime Minister for his bold move and said that their 700,000 community members were “indebted” to his government.
The delegation meanwhile requested Mr. Modi to set up a task force in the region under the Home Ministry to knit the community together, develop the valley and repatriate Kashmiri Pandits.
