Newly elected Amethi MP, Smriti Irani’s close aide, and BJP party worker Surendra Singh was shot dead in sleep in his own house in Amethi on Sunday. Singh had campaigned extensively for BJP’s Smriti Irani, who trounced Rahul Gandhi in Amethi.

Surendra Singh was shot at by unidentified assailants when he was sleeping in the verandah of his house at around 3 am on Sunday. He was rushed to a trauma center in Lucknow where he succumbed to injuries, police said.

Smriti Irani reached Singh’s native place to offer condolences and also paid floral tributes to the deceased.

MP Irani alleged the murder as Political assassination in order to her win and then the celebration by Singh. Irani said, ‘I’ve taken an oath before Surendra Singh family, the one who fired & the one who ordered it, even if I have to go SC to get the culprits a death sentence, we will knock the doors of the court.

Singh’s wife Rukmani Singh and son alleged a role of Congress supporters in the killing of Surendra Singh.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has set a 12-hour deadline to nab culprits who killed ex-pradhan Surendra Singh and has dispatched Inspector General, Lucknow for monitoring the probe.
