There were rumours that Anuskha and Virat’s marriage has increased their brand value, almost doubling the individual limit. But seems like, more than Anushka it was Virat who took the leap. The Indian cricket team captain has become India’s most valued celebrity brand. The suave cricketer has not failed to charm the country and beyond.
The unflinching cricketer who is also considered as a ‘Style Icon’ and a ‘Youth Icon’, is a pro at juggling between titles. ShahRukh Khan who has been endorsing in a host of brands, has now been replaced as far as the celebrity brand value is concerned. Virat, who has his own merchandise brand named One8, has a host of enviable endorsements and the actor does immense justice to it.
In a recent report titled ‘Rise of the Millennials’ released by Duff & Phelps, it was Virat Kohli who topped the charts of ‘India’s Most Valuable Celebrity Brand’. He has been accredited with a brand value of $144 million and is followed by noted actors like Deepika Padukone($93 million), Shahrukh Khan($106 million), Ranvir Singh($42 million), among others.
Brand value caters to a lot of parameters like endorsing tourism campaigns, backing various sports tournaments/franchises, trending celebrities, and own merchandise value. Virat has topped in all parameters.
“For the first time since we began publishing our rankings, Shah Rukh Khan has slipped from the top ranking and been replaced by Virat Kohli,” Varun Gupta, Duff & Phelps Managing Director and Region Leader – India, Japan and Southeast Asia told the media.
“P.V. Sindhu, Alia Bhatt, actor Varun Dhawan and other young celebrities are also having an enviable brand value in India. They have climbed up the rankings of our top 15 list,” Gupta added.
Virat and his wife Anushka today met PM Modi and invited him for their reception ceremony in Delhi. The couple is hosting two receptions, one in Delhi and another in Mumbai on 21st and 26th respectively.
