Xiaomi has announced rolling out of Face Unlock feature for its newly launched smartphone Redmi Note 5 Pro. The phone will get this feature as software update (MIUI v188.8.131.52) for all Redmi Note 5 Pro users. This February Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched in India and Xiaomi promised that Face Unlock feature would come to this new phone by March but it has come unexpectedly early. This seems a strategy of company to please initial buyers. In fact, Redmi Note 5 Pro is Xiaomi’s first smartphone in the country to get the Face Unlock feature.
How to update the feature
Those who have this phone might have got the notification for the new update by now. For all those who don’t get this feature can do it manually. For this follow the simple steps: Go to Settings > About Phone > System Update. There will be an update available for MIUI 9.
How to proceed further
Under Settings menu, you will get ‘Lock screen & password’ feature. For setting this feature, a PIN, password, or lock pattern are required to set up. Within few seconds, your phone will scan your face and you’re ready to go. Xiaomi claims that the smartphone will unlock using this feature in under 0.2 seconds.
It is also mentioned that Face Unlock feature will be faster than the fingerprint scanner. But this feature is likely to be less secured. When you update the phone software, there will be improvement in camera quality and stability optimizations. Kindly note one thing that this feature is not available to Redmi Note 5 Pro.
