The Cricket World Cup 2023 is about to start, and on Thursday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the reigning champions England will play host to the runners-up of the previous tournament, New Zealand.

Although there have been a few rumors about the opening ceremony taking place before the commencement of the curtain-raiser match, neither the International Cricket Council nor the Board of Control for Cricket in India have confirmed these stories. As things stand, it doesn’t appear like the Cricket World Cup will have an opening ceremony.

The Cricket World Cup matches were never supposed to begin with an opening ceremony, according to a report in the Times of India.

“A World Cup opening ceremony was never anticipated. I’m able to vouch for that, a source told TOI. “Since the IPL match begins in the evening, you can have a little opening ceremony. The match starts here in the afternoon,” the person said.

The BCCI did hold the Captains’ Day on the eve of the England vs. New Zealand start, even though an opening ceremony has not been planned. In the end, former India head coach Ravi Shastri and ex-England captain Eoin Morgan interrogated all ten captains.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, batted off the fact that one of the host countries had won the previous three World Cups when he was questioned about it.

Rohit stated at the World Cup 2023 Captain’s Day event, “Not thinking too much about that issue but definitely in last three editions hosting teams won the World Cups and we will give our everything in this World Cup and enjoy the tournament.

“People will adore this competition. The stadiums will be completely full. Indians are avid cricket fans. The competition is going to be fantastic, said Rohit.

The toss will be at 1:30 PM IST, and the first game of the Cricket World Cup will begin at 2:00 PM IST.
