In the aftermath of the Israel-Hamas conflict, 212 Indian nationals were successfully repatriated to Delhi Airport on Friday via a specially chartered flight. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar was on hand to welcome the returning citizens, as reported by ANI.

The first group of Indian travelers began their journey from Tel Aviv to India under the banner of Operation Ajay, an initiative by India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) aimed at bringing back individuals from Israel.

Upon boarding the chartered flight, passengers were observed chanting patriotic slogans like ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai.’

Sanjeev Singla, the Indian Ambassador to Israel, highlighted the Indian Embassy’s dedication to ensuring the well-being of Indian citizens during the Israel conflict. He also mentioned the embassy’s commitment to assisting the return of Indian nationals who wish to go back to India, in line with “Operation Ajay,” according to ANI.

The Indian embassy in Israel has set up a dedicated helpline to assist Indian citizens in need, including Indian businesses.

Furthermore, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) established a round-the-clock control center on Thursday to closely monitor the situation and provide necessary information and assistance.

Addressing a media briefing, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi mentioned that Operation Ajay had been launched to facilitate the return of Indian citizens from Israel, with the first chartered flight scheduled to return to India on the following morning after picking up the Indian citizens. He also emphasized that the situation in Israel was being closely watched.

Regarding casualties, Bagchi mentioned that there had been no reports of Indian casualties thus far. He further noted that around 18,000 Indians were in Israel, and given the ongoing conflict, it was a matter of concern. He advised Indians to follow advisories issued by the Indian mission.
