Narendra Modi’s outreach to the Islamic world was praised as “exemplary” by senior Congressman Shashi Tharoor on Monday. In addition, Tharoor praised the Modi administration for its accomplishment in making the G20 a “buzzword,” but he also voiced worries over the nation’s China policy outside of the restriction on Chinese apps.
The Thiruvananthapuram MP added, “In foreign policy, generally speaking, I used to be a critic at the beginning of the Modi administration,” while speaking at a CNN-News18 summit. But I believe they have adequately covered all the bases, according to Tharoor.
“I recall that in the first year of Modi’s premiership, he visited 27 nations, but not a single one of them was an Islamic nation. As a Congress Member, I raised a stink about that.
But I’m happy to report that his subsequent outreach to the Islamic world has been nothing short of fantastic. In actuality, nothing could have gone better. Never before have our ties to the main Muslim nations been better. I’m glad to retract my initial critique, Tharoor stated.
The chairman of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s IT unit responded to Tharoor’s statement by saying, “Shashi Tharoor, perhaps in a moment of weakness, finally spoke the truth.”
Tharoor added that if the united opposition were to compete against the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, it must release a common minimum plan.
“India did fantastically; full credit for utilising the (G20) occasion and showcasing India. India can no longer be ignored by the world. Foreign policy under PM Modi has changed, according to the Congress leader.
‘Gave China a free pass for violating India’s rights.’
Tharoor, however, claimed that it appeared as though the administration had granted China “a free pass” for offences against India.
“Relations with China are at a turning point. The government’s position on China is unclear. China is not a topic of conversation in Parliament. According to Tharoor, the prohibition on Chinese apps was merely symbolic.
