Diwali is undoubtedly one of the festival that brings enormous joy and makes the face gleeful. It is all meant to welcome goddess Laxmi at home, and her footsteps considered very auspicious and heal all the problems of a human being. From mythological prospective, Diwali is celebrated as Shri Ram, the Hindu God returned to his home after 14 years. Diwali is associated with a bundle of enormous excitement as the zests of people remain on 9th cloud. It is the time of lights, color, crackers, sweets and family bonding.

However, it s not only India where Diwali is celebrated there are many other countries where the fervor is witnessed.

1. Malaysia:

Malaysia, the south Asian country has diversity and people from various religion resides here. Indians in Malaysia invites the Chinese and Malays to their place on this festival of light. It is important to note that on Diwali it is a public holiday in Malaysia. Crackers are however, not allowed in the country on Diwali.

2. Thailand:

Thailand is another country where the magic of Diwali sustains. Diwali has different name in Thailand that is ‘Lam Kriyongh’. Thais make lamps out of banana leaves by placing candle on it to mark way for happiness and prosperity. They altogether have a different culture which is quite extraordinary to witness.  The lamps are placed on a flower river. Altogether it gathers an amazing site.

3. Nepal:

Nepalis also celebrates Diwali with the same enthusiasm as Indian do. This five day long festival is called ‘Tihar’ in Nepal. In Nepal, on the first two days, birds and animals are worshipped respectively. People offer sweet to crows and look for eradicating bad omen from their lives. it is quite unique to see where dogs are garlanded and praised for their loyalty towards human. Third day calls for worshipping goddess Lakshmi and bringing prosperity.

4. UK

In UK, Indians are wide in number and their ethnicity goes along with them. It is the time when the fairy lights take charge on the Indian society in this English country. Leicester is known for its grand Diwali celebration. Diwali that falls on the windy and damp month of November, lamps and diyas lit up the surroundings and accentuates an aura on its own.

5. Japan:

Diwali is a festival that accounts for progressiveness, joy and prosperity. People in Japan go to gardens on Diwali. In Japanese civilization, gardens are quite unique. However, most of the Japanese festivals are celebrated in garden.On Diwali, people hang paper designs and lanterns on trees and mark their excitement with dance and music. New clothes are put on and indulgence is at par during this festival.
