Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the chorus of #AbhinandanMyHero and ‘Bring back Abhinandan’ continues to build in the country. IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman is in Pakistan’s custody after his MiG-21 Bison was brought down in Pakistan occupied Kashmir post engagement with Pakistani Air Force jets violating Indian airspace yesterday morning.
Since then a video of Wing Commander Abhinandan being roughed up while blindfolded has gone viral, as have two others showing him being interrogated and subsequently claiming that he has been treated well by the Pakistani forces and “will not change” his statement “if” he returns to India.
His poise and confidence under pressure have won hearts across the country. For instance, in one of the videos, Varthaman alludes to the Geneva Convention when he only disclosed his service number and identifies himself as a Hindu and, when pressed for more details, calmly says, “I’m sorry sir…that’s all I’m supposed to tell you.”
Meanwhile, here are some tweets which were floating on the social media platform today. On both the side, people #SayNoToWar and demand peace.

He has a young boy who must be seeing all this. Let him feel his father is still a hero and not a meme, let him go in honour.
Don't ridicule him. His wife must be in immense torture of seeing his burnt plane, his bloody face and his uncertain future.

This is the truth that no war in real but the dead bodies are real. And…the culprits are greed, extremism, and terrorism. These wrongdoers should be demolished and our neighbor, who provides a breeding space to these culprits, needs to understand.
