Today, India marks 71st Army Day. On this day in 1949, Field Marshal Kodandera M. Cariappa took over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief. Army day is dedicated to the soldiers who fought to safeguard the country’s honor.
On this great occasion, Army chief General Bipin Rawat said that the Indian army will not hesitate to take strong action to deal with the terror activities along the border with Pakistan. General Rawat addressed Army Personnel of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
On the other hand, President Ramnath Kovind tweeted-
On Army Day, greetings to the valiant men and women of the Indian Army, to veterans and their families. You are our nation’s pride, the sentinels of our liberty. Citizens sleep securely knowing you are ever awake and ever vigilant #PresidentKovind
