When we think of education, the dream of every science student is getting an admission into IITs. They take it as an achievement to grab an IIT seat in the tough competition which our country has every year for IIT aspirants. Not only students, rather the parents are also obsessed with IIT. No doubt, it is a difficult task but a seat in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is thought to be a guarantee of bright future. But, the students who can’t make it are considered weak and feel disheartened. Some even suffer from depression when they can’t clear and some take it to an altogether new level by doing suicide. The education system in our country has made parameters to measure the talent of the students with such entrance exams. But this is very unfair and far from the truth.
Some children broke after the failure while some come up even more strongly like Manish Bhattacharya from Bihar. His story defies all these norms and is a true inspiration for anyone who thinks that they don’t get admitted into an elite college, their career will never grow and they can’t achieve success. Everything is not about being an IITian.
Before telling his story, we would like to inform you all about his present status. He graduated from a tier 3 engineering college but the big brands like Yahoo are willing to work with him. He is earning more than an IIT-IIM graduate now.
After finishing his 12 from Science stream, he also dream of joining IIT, but the financial condition of his family didn’t allow him to go for expensive coaching classes. As a result, even after two consecutive attempts, he didn’t clear the entrance and secure seat in any of the Government Colleges. So, later he got admission into a tier 3 college with the help of an education loan.
The turning point of his life came when one of his friends Facebook post said that he received an email from Microsoft thanking him for fixing a bug. “I was quite impressed by the fact that big companies are personally acknowledging students’ efforts”, he said.
After that, he learned everything about ethical hacking and the security issues relating to a website. Soon, he earned fame by finding a vulnerability in Facebook and won Facebook’s Bug bounty program. He received $5000 dollars for it and paid off his loan.
That was just the beginning for him and the road went uphill from there. He started earning good amount with this and also received good offers in his average college. Presently, he is working as a security consultant in a US-based company and earns lakhs every month. He also freelances for various other websites by detecting its bugs. His current ranking of Google’s bug bounty program is 62!
Today, he earns more than an IIT-IIM Graduate and now preparing to fly to the US for work. This proves that if you have faith and do hard work, success will surely come to you. There is no institution that has a copyright on talent.
