Originally founded as Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951, now Bhartiya Janata Party country’s is the country’s largest political party in terms of representation in the national parliament and state assemblies. S.P. Mukherjee
Beginning his political with Indian National Congress, Dr. S.P. Mukherjee was the founder of right wing nationalist Bharatiya Jana Sangh on 21 October, 1951. It is a predecessor to the Bharatiya Janata Party. During 1952 elections, Bharatiya Jana Sangh won three seats in Indian Parliament including Mukherjee.

Pandit Deendayalji was the founder of newly formed Bharatiya Jana Sangh unit in Uttar Pradesh. He was the moving spirit and his organizational skills were difficult to match. He also worked tirelessly to build the organization and had taken it to national level after Mukherjee’s death in 1953. He was raised to the high position of President in the year 1968.

Better known as L. K. Advani, Lal Krishna Advani one of the co-founder and senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party. He was also the 7th Deputy Prime Minister of India from 2002 to 2004. Advani began his political career as a volunteer of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. In 1973, he had become the president of Jana Sangh. Under Advani leadership, the BJP became the political face of the Ram Janmabhoomi campaign.
