2017 was a big year for Bollywood in terms of both business and the number of releases. Throughout the year, the viewers kept getting entertained with several genres of films. There were content-driven films, big-budget films, commercial masala films, multi-starrer, and what not. Overall, most of these succeeded at the box office with a reasonable amount of profit.

Here’s a look at the biggest Bollywood hits of 2017:

Baahubali 2- The Conclusion

Everyone rushed to the theatres to find out ‘Why Katappa killed Baahubali?’ as soon as the film got released. Living up to the expectations and anticipations, the film broke all records and garnered a lifetime collection of INR 510.99 Crores. From lead actor Prabhas’ acting to the spectacular visual effects, the movie was praised by everyone equally.

Golmaal Again

Rohit Shetty came back with his Golmaal squad only this time with a few changes. Golmaal Again featured Parineeti and Tabu as fresh additions and presented a combination of horror and humor which was loved by all. The movie was expected to cross 100 Crore mark because of its star cast but instead, it was able to make INR 205.67 Crores.

Tiger Zinda Hai

Although it’s still early to predict as to how much the movie is going to make in total, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ has already made more than INR 173.07 Crores as you read this. Within just 5 days of its release, there is no doubt that the movie will cross the INR 200 Crore mark at the box office. The superhit pair of Salman and Katrina and the action sequences of the film are enough to get all the attention of the audiences.

Judwa 2

The 90s hit film Judwa starring Salman Khan was re-made into Judwa 2 starring Varun Dhawan in the double role. Despite the same story and similar situations, the movie was absolutely loved by the David Dhawan fans. The film was released in more than 4125 screens and earned 138.61 Crores at the box office. Varun also received a lot of appreciation for his acting skills by the critics.

Toilet- Ek Prem Katha

It was one of the rare films with a really strong social message about public health and sanitation. Akshay and Bhumi in the lead roles impressed the audience with their gripping performances which made the film one of the biggest hits of the year. The film earned INR 134.22 Crores at the box office despite its simplicity and low budget.

Raees

SRK fans got a chance to spot him in the negative role after a very long time. Apart from the obvious love that the movie got because of Shahrukh’s presence, it also received a lot of buzz due to the controversy related to Mahira Khan. Although it was expected to make much more, the figures were limited to INR 132.51 Crores at the Box Office.

Tubelight

Tubelight was able to cross the 100 Crore mark at domestic collection merely because of Salman Khan playing the lead role. The film was not appreciated much by the viewers or the critics but the actor yet again proved that people follow him like a religion. The movie collected INR 119 Crores in India.

Jolly LLB 2

Another Akshay Kumar’s movie in the list is the sequel of Jolly LLB. The movie was loved for the stupendous performances by Saurabh Shukla and Annu Kapoor. It had comedy, drama, emotions, and a satirical take on the Indian law much similar to the first part. The business of the films stands at INR 117 Crores.

Badrinath ki Dulhania

This movie is about the societal norms and the dowry system that still prevails in the country as a social evil. Badrinath ki Dulhania starring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles left a long-lasting impact on the audiences. The songs of the film were also quite hit. The film collected INR 116.68 Crores at the box office.

Kaabil

Hrithik Roshan’s gripping performance in the lead role was loved by everyone. The movie was appreciated for the story, the plotline, and most importantly the acting skills of Hrithik and Ronit as the protagonist and antagonist, respectively. Crossing the 100 Crore mark, the box office collection of the movie was 103.84 Crores.

Apart from these movies that made big in terms of collection, this year we saw many great films at a small budget with powerful performances. These include Bareilly ki Barfi, Shubh Magal Savdhan, Hindi Medium, Newton, Secret Superstar, Lipstick under my Burkha, A death in the Gunj, etc.
