N Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP)has recently exited coalition with PM Narendra Modi. It is also plan to move a no-confidence motion against the government in parliament. This happens over dispute of special status to his state Andhra Pradesh. It was promised that Andhra Pradesh would be provided a special status as Telangana was made from it. But, the biggest reason of this exit is BJP’s accusation on his son Nara Lokesh for corruption.

On this exit, BJP’s spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao said that this exit of TDP is not a threat but a timely opportunity for the BJP to grow in Andhra Pradesh. The TDP has huge contribution to BJP in Lok Sabha as it has its 16 members supporting it. But BJP is not threatened after this pull-out.

After this end of coalition with the biggest ally in South India, BJP got a tough blow as 2019 Loksabha elections are heading. Even BJP had been going rough time with Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. Sena also said it will go it alone in Maharashtra. It is known that BJP had seen a setback in bypolls in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

What does mean by Special Status to state?
Special status would mean a large infusion of central funds to help with the state government’s plans to develop its new capital Amravati.
