Commonwealth Games 2018: India’s Jitu Rai wins gold in 10m air pistol

In the 21st Commonwealth Games, India is writing new stories of winning. At Gold Coast, the country’s players are kept on bagging more medals. Indian ace shooter Jitu Rai bagged the Gold medal in for India in men’s 10m air pistol event while Om Mitharwal bagged bronze medal for India in the same. Indian women shooters have also shined at the event. Mehuli Ghosh and Apurvi Chandela bagged silver and bronze respectively in 10m air pistol event.

Jitu Rai was at the fourth position in the preliminary round. In the finals, he shifted speedily by taking the lead after second series of five shots. He finished at 235.1 claiming the gold. This is his second gold in Commonwealth games.

Jitu Rai’s achievements
JituRai is from Lucknow and won India’s eight gold at this sports event. He is an armyman. With his determination, he made a record score of 235.1 in the game. Jitu Rai is a silver medallist at the ISSF World Cup in Munich in year 2014. In the same year, he also won a silver in the 50 metre pistol event and a gold in the 10 metre air pistol event in Maribor. In 2014 Commonwealth games, he won gold in 50m pistol event. In 2014 Asian Games held at Incheon, Jitu won the gold medal in the 50 m pistol category while he bagged bronze in the men’s 10 m air pistol team event. Apart from these, he has made India proud with his achievements. He has also won a silver medal at the ISSF World Cup held in Azerbaijan in the 10m Air Pistol event in 2016.
