The Delhi Walk Festival 2017 is yet again here in the capital city of India which will be celebrated from 2nd November to 11th November, starting from today. During these 11 days, 170 walks will be arranged encompassing various aspects of the city including art, heritage, food, nature, and so on. The walks will be led by experts from a wide range of fields. These include anthropologists, historians, musicians, gastronomes, ecologists, hobbyists, and seasoned flaneurs (strollers).

The main idea behind this 11-day long event is to encourage people to take interest in the beauty and cultural importance of the city. It is to propagate the fact that Delhi is much more than its traffic and corporate buildings.

Delhi Walk Festival: Experts and Guests

The walk will be led by various individual experts like Aanchal Malhotra, Madhav Raman, Sadia Dehlvi, Baldev Gulati and organizations like Delhi Karavan, Delhi Bird Foundation, Sair-e-Nizamuddin, and Purani Dilli Walo ki Baatein, etc.

As far as the guest list is concerned, several celebrities like Historian William Dalrymple, Director M.K Raina, novelist Shahzi Zaman, and politician Aruna Roy will be present, among others.

In order to get the attendees delve into the city’s multiple yet spellbinding narratives, a lot of walks will be arranged. These are enlisted below:

DWF will take you on a walk to experience the historical places of the national capital like its forts, mausoleums, mosques, and bazaars. It will give you an insight into the unknown history of Delhi with stories that you may have never heard before.

The fest will play a crucial role in unveiling the artistic side of the city which is not hidden yet remains unexplored. It will reveal Delhi’s various art districts and include meeting poets, musicians, and storytellers throughout the event.

There will be multiple photography walks to choose from including steel photography, wildlife photography, and design walks whereby Indian and foreign scripts will be encountered while spotting hand-painted signs and vertical typography.

Right from the Chaat Trail to Old Delhi’s Kebab and Biryani, savor the most authentic and tempting delicacies of the city. There are multiple walks at different timing offering a wide range of cuisine items like tikkas, chaats, bedmi pooris, halwas and kulfis, etc.

These will include several nature walks, tree walks, and moonlit walks, unfolding the aesthetics of the city. Such walks will present an opportunity to be acquainted about the Delhi Ridge, Yamuna, and urban forests and wildlife.
