Bollywood Singer Kanika Kapoor revealed yesterday that she has been tested positive with COVID-19 virus and this news sent shockwaves among the politicians who attended a party with her recently in Lucknow. Most of the politicians announced that they are going in quarantine after they heard the news.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje shared about her presence at the party along with her son and MP Dushyant Singh where Ms. Kapoor was present. She continued that as a matter of “abundant self-caution” she immediately is adopting self-quarantine. Later on, news came out that she and her son has been tested negative.
Mr. Singh was among many MPs who attended a breakfast meeting hosted by President Ram Nath Kovind on March 18 as well as a parliamentary panel meeting on transport, tourism and culture, attended by around 20 MPs later that day. If sources are to believed then after attending the party in Lucknow along with Ms. Kapoor, Mr. Singh attended two more events in the following days.
According to the sources, Mr. Kovind would follow all protocols prescribed but the Rashtrapati Bhawan is yet to announce the official statement regarding it. The Uttar Pradesh government, meanwhile is yet to reveal the names of politicians, bureaucrats and socialites who attended the event.
U.P. Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh was another person present at the party shared about him going into self-isolation. Apna Dal president and MP Anupriya Patel was another one who was present with MP Dushyant Singh on Thursday and said that would take to self-quarantine.
Ms. Raje tweeted: “While in Lucknow, I attended a dinner with my son Dushyant & his in-laws. Kanika, who has unfortunately tested positive for #Covid19 was also a guest.”
An FIR has been launched against the Singer as she hided her travel history. She returned to India from United Kingdom four days before the party.
