Floods and Avalanches Killing 56 of every 7 States, Himachal CM Requests that Individuals Stay Inside

Officials in seven Indian states said on Saturday that floods and landslides have displaced thousands and killed at least 56 people.

Himachal Pradesh is the state that has been hit the hardest, with 28 deaths and more than 2,000 people having to be evacuated from their homes. Due to the possibility of additional flooding, the state government has instructed residents to remain inside for the next 24 hours. Other states that have been affected by the floods include Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, and Nagaland. In Uttarakhand, 12 people have died, while in Uttar Pradesh, 10 people have died. In Bihar, six people have died, while in Assam, four people have died. In Meghalaya, two people have died, and in Nagaland, one person has died.

The floods have also caused damage to infrastructure. In Himachal Pradesh, several roads and bridges have been washed away, and the power supply has been disrupted in some areas. In Uttarakhand, a railway line has been damaged, and several villages have been cut off from the rest of the state. The government has deployed teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to rescue people and provide relief. The teams have been carrying out rescue operations in flooded areas and providing food, water, and medical assistance to the affected people.

The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in the affected states over the next few days. The government has warned people to stay away from rivers and other water bodies. In the states affected by the floods, there has been a significant humanitarian crisis. In order to assist the affected population, the government has asked for help from the general public.
