Gang Rape Videos Are Being Sold In India For 50 Rs.

gang rape video sold at 50 rs in india

Rape is the fourth most common crime against woman in India. Crimes like rapes and sexual assault and molestation are very high in India and sadly are on a rise too. The National Crimes Record Buereau in India reported 13,766 cases of child rapes in 2014 and a total of 24,923 rapes were reported in 2012. What’s more is that the capital city ranks number one in the number of cases happening. Unfortunately we only have statistics, but not solutions. Every now and then we pick a newspaper and often read headlines that mention an innocent girl, woman or a child being raped by one or many in India and the culprits too get away with it easily. Something somewhere is going very wrong as the numbers are reportedly increasing with every passing day. To your surprise, NCRB reports show that every day on average almost 94 women are raped in India. Where on one hand we say India is one of the largest rapidly developing countries in the world, on the other hand incidents like such make us think twice on it.

This has been taken to another level in India. States like Uttar Pradesh etc are reportedly selling the rape videos for as less as rupees 50. These videos range from a 30 second clip to a full 5 minute recording. Well, that is one shameless act that must be immediately stopped. This is not just the insult of women but a big question mark on the society and the mentality of people. When interviewed by a daily newspaper, a shop owner in Agra said, “Porn is passe. These real life crimes are the rage.” These were the actual real words used by a shop owner and sadly no one could have done anything then.

Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi said, “70 per cent of the perpetrators in rape cases belonged to the age group of 21-35 years. Crime-mapping analysis of the city suggested that any woman in a locality is surrounded by between 250 and 400 men who would not think twice before assaulting a woman. Analysis also suggests that 60 to 65 per cent of women victims are between 15-30 years old. Their self-defence expertise shall be a sure counter to men with sick mindset.”
Also, Ajay Sharma, a deputy inspector general of police in the city of Agra said, “We are aware. We are taking necessary action. But it is difficult, as the sales are happening below the counter.”

All we hope is that such news stories will awaken the concerned authorities, MPs, MLAs, and police in Agra and other such regions and one day this will come to an end.
