Food, dressing and beliefs were one part, the recent survey report reveals about how much the casteism have penetrated into our brains. Where 91% Hindus have best friends belonging to their own community, only 33% Hindus have a close pal from Muslim community. On contrary, 74% Muslims have their close friend from Hindus and a whooping number of 95% have best friend from their own community.
This arises the idea of cultivating friendships on a clear distinction called, “walls of religion”. Not only this, it also affects the trust factor which serves as base of any kind of affinity.
CSDS (A Centre for the study of Developing Societies) have figured out that most of people divided into Hindu and Muslim have a clear line of distinction in their preferences of close friends. Choosing a safe side, most of them have friends from their own religion and caste. The survey was extensively conducted in four states including Haryana, Gujarat, Karnataka and Odisha. They termed it as, “isolation of Muslims” in these four states.
The survey also revealed that only 13% of Hindu population take Muslims as “highly patriotic”. Surprisingly, 20% Hindus put Christians in this category. Typically, its 47% for Sikhs in the country.
Also, 77% Muslims take their own community high on patriotic grounds but only 26% Christians think Muslim stand true to this statement. Only 11% Sikhs think, Muslims are patriotic. In fact, only 66% Sikhs take Hindus as a Patriotic population.
The extreme is that, labeling is being done as “liberal” and “majoritarian”. Govt. is even punishing those who choose not to respect cow. Only 6% have a “liberal” attitude in the country and just 17% as some “weak liberal” behaviour and a whooping amount of 72% are “majoriatrian”.
Army people have peak level of trust factor among the masses. And, the bureaucrats like political parties, police and govt. officials do not own even a tiny fraction of trust factor among the masses.
