RRR attended, witnessed, and completely dominated the 95th Academy Awards in Los Angeles. Naatu Naatu won the Oscar for Best Original Song – was there ever any doubt? – and there is no question of remaining calm and carrying on.

The Oscars were given to composer MM Keeravaani, who gave his acceptance speech by singing a version of The Carpenters’ hit Top Of The World, and lyricist Chandrabose. The insanely popular song is from the film RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli and starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, all of whom attended the Academy Awards.

Lady Gaga’s Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick, Rihanna’s Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, This Is A Life from Everything Everywhere All At Once, and Applause from Tell It Like A Woman were among the heavyweight competitors.

It was an Indian film’s second win, following The Elephant Whisperers, which won Best Documentary Short Subject. All That Breathes was also nominated for Best Documentary Feature Film, with Navalny winning the award.

Naatu Naatu’s global dominance is now complete, as she recently won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song. Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava sang the song live during the Oscar ceremony, and Lauren Gottlieb danced. Deepika Padukone is the third Indian to attend as a guest.

Deepika Padukone introduced the performance, becoming the third Indian to attend as a presenter after Persis Khambatta and Priyanka Chopra.
