As we 3 deaths and 370 new Coronovirus cases were registered on April 1, it turned out to be the highest ever single day increase in coronovirus cases in India till date.

The total number of confirmed cases has now reached 1,637 and the death toll had risen to 38. One hundred and thirty two persons have been cured, the Union Health Ministry said.

According to the reports from the State Health Departments, the number of positive cases now stands at 1,897, with 1,798 active ones. The number of deaths stood at 59.

An official of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said 47,951 tests had been conducted so far, including 861 by private laboratories, and 126 ICMR laboratories were active in petforming the tests.

Concerns were raised by Tablighi Jamaat congregants in the past 2 days buy according to a Home Ministry official, 2,000 of them had been quarantined in hospitals and the meeting place has been cleared.

After the lockdown was announced by Indian Prime Minister on 24th March, several migrant workers gathered on the streets of Delhi and various other cities, trying to return home to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal. The Home Ministry headed by Amit Shah, ordered the States to prevent their travel and provide them with sufficient food and adequate shelter. “The situation is under control,” a Home Ministry official informed. “21,486 relief camps have been set up and 6,75,133 persons are being sheltered.”

Home ministry of India is making sure that proper quarantine and “psycho-social measures” are taken for the migrants. Trained counsellors and community group leaders of all religions would pay them a visit in relief camps and provide necessary support.
