Kidambi Srikanth– the Indian badminton player, who is getting stronger in the game with every tournament has registered yet another victory. On Sunday, Srikanth bagged the French Open Super Series men’s single title 2017 in Paris. He won this game against Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto by 21-14, 21-13.

After completing a hat-trick of super series titles, this is the fourth title that the shuttler has won in this season. This is also his second consecutive win after defeating Lee Hyun-il of Korea at 2017 Denmark Super Series Premier. After the fourth series title, Kidambi has become only fourth men’s singles player to have won 4 or more Super Series Title, in one calendar year.

Srikanth comes from a humble family background. He was born on 7 February 1993 in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. His father is a landlord while his mother is a homemaker. He has an elder brother named K. Nandagopal, who also happens to be a badminton player.

• In 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games in the Isle of Man, the shuttler bagged silver in mixed doubles and bronze in doubles.

• In 2012 he claimed the Men’s singles titles in the Maldives International Challenge by defeating the then Junior World Champion Zulfadli Zulkifli.

• In 2013, he claimed the Men’s singles title at Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold event against Boonsak Ponsana. In the same year, he beat Olympian Parupalli Kashyap to win his first senior national title at All India Senior National Championship in Delhi.

• In November 2014, he beat his own idol and 5-times world champion Lin Dan at the China Open Super Series by 21-19, 21-17. After that, he became the first Indian to win the Super Series Premier Men’s title.

• In 2015, he became the first Indian male player to win the gold medal at the Swiss Open Grand Prix. He also went on to win the India Open Super Series Title.

• In 2016, the shuttler won gold in the Syed Modi International Badminton Championships Grand Prix. Later, he won two gold medals at South Asian Games by defeating Prannoy Kumar.

• In 2017, Srikanth and Sai Praneeth became the first Indian pair to reach the finals of a Badminton Ranking event. In the ongoing year alone, Kidambi has won four Super Series titles at Indonesia, Australia, Denmark, and France.

From the 240th rank in the world in the year 2012, Kidambi jumped to number 13 in May 2013. By the year 2015, he was able to enter the top 5. However, currently, after winning four titles in the season, has achieved the fourth slot in BWF world rankings in the men’s singles category.
