Modi’s France Visit Marks New Era of Cooperation

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited France on July 10-11, 2023, for a bilateral summit with French President Emmanuel Macron. The visit was the first by an Indian prime minister to France in four years, and it marked a new era of cooperation between the two countries.

Modi was welcomed to France with a ceremonial welcome at the Élysée Palace. He was greeted by Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron. The two leaders then held a private meeting, followed by a joint press conference.

In his speech, Modi said that the visit was a “milestone” in Indo-French relations. He said that the two countries had a “shared vision” for the future and that they were committed to working together to address global challenges. Modi also spoke about the importance of defense cooperation between India and France. He said that the two countries needed to work together to “counter common threats”.

Macron presented Modi with the Legion of Honor, France’s highest civilian honor. Modi’s “outstanding contribution” to the growth of Indo-French relations was the reason for the award.

The visit to France was a triumph for Modi and Macron. It demonstrated that India and France are committed to working together to address global challenges and strengthened the strategic partnership between the two nations.
