The India–Africa Forum Summit is the official platform for the African-Indian relations. It was first held from April 4 to April 8, 2008 in New Delhi, India. It was the first such meeting between the heads of state and government of India and 14 countries of Africa chosen by the African Union. Libya and Egypt’s heads of state did not attend.

With the first head of India-Africa summit arrived at New Delhi on Saturday, it marks the gesture in a more extended way with his plans to travel Delhi and areas.

King Mohammed VI of Morocco arrived with his team of 400 delegations and he landed way ahead from the other leaders who are going to mark their presence in this summit. He is all set to get the new refreshing vibes of India which is laddering up to the crown of a developed nation under PM Narendra Modi.

India-African Summit

The king, who took over from his father King Hassan II in 1999, was an invitee to India after much opposition was pressed from African Union. His arrival defines a significant interest for the country as the King visiting India does not accounts for a small deal.

According to the sources “The AU had asked India to also invite the Sahrawi Democratic Republic, which has been carved out of a part of Moroccan territory, and is recognized by the AU. India this time decided to go beyond the AU recommendations on invitees, and invite every single African country. This makes the summit extra special for countries like Morocco. “

The relation between India and Morocco got bit bitter under the Prime Minister Vajpayee’s tenure in 1985 where India reversed an ill judged decision to recognize the SADR (Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic). Morocco is also an important member of OIC and was of the parallel views to designate Kashmir a sovereign state.

His visit this year is promised as was marked on a positive note to make his significance presence during the summit. His views on this visit are to explore Delhi and regions just to get a rich feel of India. Though it is the third official trip to India as he is no more stranger but his vision expresses his zeal and gusto to visit India  as well.
