One Militant killed in J&K’s Pulwama encounter

According to police reports, one militant was killed in an ongoing encounter at Sarshali in Pulwama’s Khrew on Wednesday.
Another operation at Beigpora Awantipur was going on, police confirmed.

A police official said the brief exchange of firing took place between militants and security forces in Sarshali area of Khrew in Awantipora area in south Kashmir’s Pulwama.

The firing occurred when a joint team of Army’s 50 Rashtriya Rifles, the CRPF’s 185 Battalion and police launched a pre-dawn cordon and search operation in Sarshali area. “The operation is on,” said a police official. The police did not disclosed any further details about the operation.

In the meantime, another encounter broke out between militants and security forces in the Beighpora area of Pulwama district, a police spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, mobile internet has been snapped in south Kashmir region.

A militant belong to the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad was arrested and arms and ammunition seized from his possession in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

The militant was apprehended by the security forces at the Satura crossing when he was found moving under suspicious circumstances.

On his questioning, the security forces recovered an AK-56 rifle, five AK magazines, 150 AK rounds, three Chinese grenades and two cell phones, the police official said.
