PM Narendra Modi inaugurates Kashmir’s Chenani-Nashri Tunnel

Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Asia’s largest Chenani-Nashri tunnel in Udhampur. Before the inauguration, an awful scenario of youths pelting stones across dismayed NaMo.

Chenani-Nashri tunnel is a 9-km tunnel for which a whopping sum of 2500 crores has been spent. NaMo delivered a very inspiring speech on the J&K soil.

In his speech, PM Modi said, “Some misguided youngsters are pelting stones but see here, youth of Kashmir are using the same stones to build infrastructure,” Modi hinted at the development regime which was possible in J&K due to earnest efforts by the youth of the city.

The Chenani-Nashri tunnel is likely to reduce the distance between Jammu and Srinagar by at least two hours. This tunnel has reduced the time from Kashmir Valley to Jammu by 31 kms.

Here are the notable excerpts from Modi’s speech which was appreciated by one and all. He is indeed one inspirational man.

“ This is the inauguration of the longest tunnel in India. I have done the rituals, but I want all the citizens present here today to inaugurate this tunnel and I’ll tell you the way to inaugurate. All you have to do is take out your mobile phones, simultaneously turn on the flash on your mobile phones and with the chant of Bharat Mata Ki Jai, see all the photographers taking your photo now!”

Modi ji also thanked and congratulated all J&K jawans who were closely involved in construction of tunnel. Modi ji said, “More than two and a half thousand youth, 90 percent of Jammu and Kashmir’s jawans have been involved in constructing this tunnel. We can imagine how many employment opportunities were generated.”

Modi also expressed the pressing need for building this tunnel and how it is crucial for farmers among other sections of people. “If the rains and the weather has been as per the requirement, the crop is very good, the fruits are ready for sale in the Delhi market, but if the roads are blocked for five days in the same place, more than half the fruit is ruined. Before arriving in Delhi, their hard-earned money gets wasted,” Modi said.

NaMo also highlighted that the construction of tunnel will give a major boost to the tourism sector. “Brothers and sisters, every citizen of India has a dream to someday see Kashmir. They want to travel in the valleys of Kashmir. And the development of infrastructure that we have taken up because of which the convenience to visiting tourists from the various corners of India is going to increase. It is going to guarantee tourism. And the more the tourism will grow, more the previous economic condition of Jammu and Kashmir will be left behind in favour of growth. This is my faith.”

Drawing towards the end of his speech, the visionary Prime Minister said, “And the benefit of this development will be met by the future generations of Jammu and Kashmir. Let’s prepare for it. Let’s take Jammu and Kashmir forward. Let’s take these dreams ahead.”

Well, we hope and pray that Jammu & Kashmir continues to reign in every sector of development. May J&K be tagged as the “Heaven on Earth” forever and ever.
