Priyanka Chopra becomes a tech investor; aims to empower women in India

Global icon Priyanka Chopra has been an investor in the film industry, music fraternity, and art. She has now ventured into technology-based companies and funded into gender diversity apps known as bumble and holbertonschool.

Here is what her Instagram post said: I’m honoured to join two companies that strive to expand gender diversity in the tech space, and make a social impact for the greater good… let’s do this!!” She also was interviewed by the New York Times, off late and the media report quotes her saying – “You just hang out and you’re learning. It’s amazing. Geeks are taking over the world. If they haven’t already.”

The two apps are focused on increasing gender diversity. The actress is sure making her way into the A-listers of global celebrities who are investing in big tech houses. PeeCee recently got engaged to Hollywood star Nick Jonas and the two were in Jodhpur, India for deciding on their wedding location. They were seen at the Mehrangarh fort with their friends.

What is Bumble?

It is a dating app which gives the choice to women. The company is eyeing on expanding in India and no one but Priyanka Chopra will be advising them. Indian women need Bumble, is what Priyanka told to Bumble Founder and CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd. Priyanka has a connection with Bumble since its inception – she had helped Bumble showcase its app Bumble Bizz, in October 2017.

“It was clear then we shared a passion for empowering young women on a global level. From there we began architecting a plan to partner and launch Bumble in India, ” Whitney said. “The challenges in entering the Indian market is “localizing the experience and attracting women,” Whitney added.

The entire gamut of activities which Priyanka involves herself in, she is a full packet of energy.
