Rajasthan: BJP, Congress Chief locked in tough battle for Dholpur bypoll elections, BJP UP win to replicate in Dholpur

Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot

The state of Rajasthan favours BJP. This notion was testified in the 2013 elections which showered BJP with a total of 160 seats against only 24 seats of Congress.

The bypoll elections in Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s home-turf, Dholpur are due 9 days away on April 9.

Congress is pinning high hopes onto it’s 77-year old candidate, Banwari Lal Sharma. Bearing an infamous track record of practicing lethargy and complacency at it’s peak, Sharma’s position is in a major disarray, given the Modi-super wave which has Lo and behold, swept the whole nation including Dholpur.

BJP has fielded B.L. Kushwah’s wife, Shobha Rani for Dholpur battleground. Shobharani joined the politics league on Feb 15, with a powerful swap of tickets from BSP to BJP.

Both parties are undergoing extensive campaigning. The kingpin of both parties have forayed into the Dholpur election extravaganza. Sachin Pilot from Congress and Ashok Parnami from BJP have been running errands to the constituency to bolster their election proceedings.

It is also known that more than 50 senior leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and opposition Congress (INC) have been relentlessly camping in the district for more than 14 days now.

The local Dholpurites are taking a major jibe at the Sachin Pilot for his amateur politicking. Pilot spews confidence for his win in 2018 elections, however public sentiments prove otherwise. The Rajasthanis are more inclined towards re-electing incumbent Vasundhara Raje as their representative.

“The party organisation is taking the bypolls seriously and will certainly win the Dholpur seat. We have made teams of active workers till booth level, who will move from door-to-door and tell people about the achievements of the state and the central governments,” said BJP President Ashok Parnami.

Speculations are rife that BJP will replicate their UP win in Dholpur too. Well, Godspeed to Congress for handling result day angst!
