Although this movie has been released across India, his Karnataka fans were disappointed. Due to possibilities of opposition from pro-Kannada activists, Karnataka theatres did not screen the movie. Know more in detail.

Why is film not released in state?
This all happen due to Rajinikanth’s remarks on the Cauvery water dispute between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Last month, Rajinikanth had said that no matter which government is in power, Karnataka should release Cauvery waters for Tamil Nadu. The dispute over waters of Cauvery river between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu is decade long. Cauvery river is called the Ganga of the south.

Pro-Kannada groups have threatened to disrupt screenings of Kaala movie starring Rajinikanth. To avoid any kind of violence, Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy asked that the film should not be released in his state or to delay the release.
