The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced this morning that a regulatory investigation into the SpiceJet flight turbulence incident on Sunday, which injured at least 14 passengers and three cabin crew members.
The incident occurred on Sunday when a SpiceJet Boeing B737 flight from Mumbai to Durgapur encountered severe turbulence during descent.

However, the plane landed safely in West Bengal’s Durgapur airport, and the injured were taken to a hospital for treatment right away.

According to the DGCA, some passengers received head injuries and required stitches, while one passenger claimed to have suffered a spinal injury as a result of the accident. Three cabin crew members were also injured.

“We’re dispatching teams for regulatory investigation, and medical reports from the injured passengers are pending,” the statement continued.

SpiceJet, on the other hand, has expressed regret for the incident.

“On May 1, a SpiceJet Boeing B737 aircraft flying from Mumbai to Durgapur experienced severe turbulence during descent, resulting in the injuries of a few passengers. Upon the aircraft’s arrival in Durgapur, immediate medical assistance was provided “SpiceJet’s spokesperson confirmed this.
