Sikh Community Celebrates Guru Nanak Jayanti with Immense Zeal

The Sikh community of India is celebrating Guru Nanak Jayanti on Wednesday 25th November, the celebration of birth anniversary of first Sikh Guru Nanak Dev started from Tuesday 24th November itself, where devotees reciting hymns in Gurudwaras across the country.

The birth anniversary of Guru Nanak is among the major festivals of Sikh community, it is also known as Prakash Parb. On this day all the Guruwaras across country and world are lavishly decorated with bright lightings and holy procession is taken out by the devotees, in which ‘Akhada’ is also performed by the participants.

The day is celebrated in various fashion in various parts of India, most generally devotees takes part in ‘Kirtan’ which starts from a day before the birth of Nanak Dev and continues till the next day. In a special ‘Langar’ organized on Guru Nanak Jayanti, people of community volunteer for preparation and serving of food in a mass dine.

Golden temple in Amritsar is considered as pilgrim of Sikh community, it holds a number of religious events on this day and distributes sweets among the people irrespective of his cast and religious believes. A day long recitation of teachings of Guru Nanak is carried out in the premises.

All the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev are based on spreading humanity and peace among the society, which are well followed by the community members across the globe.
