Spanish priest becomes Indian citizen after 38-year wait!

A 90 year old Spanish priest Father Gussi Frederick Sopena has been living in India for last 6 decades. So out of his 90 years of life, the reverent priest spent almost 38 years of his life in India and it’s now that he has been granted Indian citizenship.

Adorable old priest is finally what he wanted to be. His prolonged stay in our country simply suggests his utmost love for the same. Now finally he can be officially called an Indian which made the pure soul so very happy. His long cherish wish has been granted after all.

It was the Mumbai suburban district Collector Shekhar Channe from collectorate office in suburban Mumbai who awarded the old man his best gift in the form of Certificate of Naturalization on this Thursday. Mr Channe stated that, “This is indeed a unique case as far as my district is concerned, of an individual who has waited for so long to get citizenship,” 

Let’s know what the new and glad Indian has to say about this happy event of his life. He said “There is no other country like India where I have lived and worked for 67 years. And now I am very happy that my grave will be in India, that of an Indian. Bharat Mata ki jai!
