Terrorists attacked the army artillery unit in Jammu and Kashmir’s Nagrota on Tuesday morning. The terrorists who came loaded with grenades initiated activity around 5.30 am. At this time, it was also known that at least two suicide attackers were holed up in the area.
Terrorists attack Army unit in Nagrota near Jammu. Nagrota area is around 20 km from Jammu. It is the headquarters of the army’s 16 Corps. 16 Corps is a massive military formation that defends the borders and undertake counter-terrorists activities in the greater Jammu region.
08:08 AM, 29th November:Terrorists opened fire on army camp in Nagrota area of Jammu district. Following this, fierce gun battle broke out between the terrorists and the security forces.
08:08 AM, 29th November:Following the fire battle, the administrators ordered shutting down of schools in Nagrota .
08:20 AM, 29th November: Encounter broke out between infiltrating militants and BSF troops along International Border in Samba sector.
08:30 AM, 29th November: In between the gun battle, one BSF jawan got injured in between the fire-exchange.
08:43 AM, 29th November : Two BSF jawans got injured amidst the havoc .One of them was critically injured.
09:29 AM, 29th November: An official reported , “Heavy firing exchange was on between the militants and the troopers of the Border Security Force in the Ramgarh sector of Jammu. Security forces .The security forces thwarted the infiltration activity created by the terrorists. It is known that these terrorist tried to enter in from Pakistan through the International border in Jammu.
09:30 AM, 29th November: During the ongoing Samba encounter, one BSF jawan got heavily injured.
10:04 AM, 29th November: Around this time, we were at a loss of one BSF jawan,who got killed during the Nagrota encounter.
10:55 AM, 29th November : As the encounter furthered , death toll of BSF jawan rose to two.
The operations continues as I write this article. We have suffered an irreplaceable loss due to the infiltration proceedings. Terrorists have proliferated in numbers .Reportedly, there are nearly 300 terrorists housed in Jammu & Kashmir. Our BSF jawans put their lives on stake for our safety and security. It’s time we support them,to reciprocate their sacrifices for us(To say the least).
We cannot sustain loss of our brothers everyday. Can we? Let’s stand against Terrorism .Let us pledge to counter terrorism and dislocate them from their roots. As citizens, there are various things we can do ,at our level to uproot terrorism. We can inform the police or higher authority ,if we spot any unfamiliar activities or people .Never forget to get a police verification of the lessee , before renting your house. This makes sure ,we are not housing an anti-national .
